Foundational concepts in person-machine teaming

چکیده
As we enter an age where the behavior and capabilities of artificial intelligence autonomous system technologies become ever more sophisticated, cooperation, collaboration, teaming between people these machines is rising to forefront critical research areas. People engage socially with almost everything which they interact. However, unlike animals, do not share experiential aspects sociality. Experiential robotics identifies need develop that only learn from their own experience, but can experience in interactions, wherein experiences are primarily social. In this paper, argue, therefore, for place considerations interaction, as basis design engineering person-machine teams. We first explore importance semantics driving approaches robot development. Then, examine differences usage relevant terms like trust ethics social science lay out implications development autonomous, systems.

A Mathematical Theory of Human Machine Teaming
Figure 1: Illustration: an HMT architecture that is lower bounded for generic performance metrics under a variety of teaming stressors. We begin with a disquieting paradox: human machine teaming (HMT) often produces results worse than either the human or machine would produce alone. Critically, this failure is not a result of inferior human modeling or a suboptimal autonomy: even with perfect k...

Draft – Please do not cite or quote without permission " Public managers now find themselves not as unitary leaders of unitary organizations. Instead, they find themselves facilitating and operating in multi-organizational arrangements to solve problems that cannot be solved, or solved easily, by single organizations. In many instances, the needed skill set of public managers has changed to one...
متن کاملThe Unit Graphs Framework: Foundational Concepts and Semantic Consequence
We are interested in a graph-based Knowledge Representation formalism that would allow for the representation, manipulation, query, and reasoning over dependency structures, and linguistic knowledge of the Explanatory and Combinatorial Dictionary in the Meaning-Text Theory framework. Neither the semantic web formalisms nor the conceptual graphs appear to be suitable for this task, and this led ...
متن کاملRepresenting and Reasoning about Time Travel Narratives: Foundational Concepts
The paper develops a branching-time ontology that maintains the classical restriction of forward movement through a temporal tree structure, but permits the representation of paths in which one can perform inferences about time-travel scenarios. Central to the ontology is the notion of an agent embodiment whose beliefs are equivalent to those of an agent who has time-traveled from the future.
متن کاملPlan Revision In Person-Machine Dialogue
Dialogue is a cooperative process in which each speech act of the participants contributes to the overall purpose of the dialogne. Participating in a full dialogue implies understanding at each point of the dialogue session the role of each speech act with respect to the rest of the dialogne. We concentrate in this paper on speech acts that diverge from the straightforward unfolding of the dial...
